When Taihoku Imperial University was first founded, the Faculty of Literature and Politics and the Faculty of Science and Agriculture were inaugurated. The university further merged the Taihoku Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry, affiliated with the Government-General of Taiwan, and reorganized it as Taihoku Imperial University’s Specialized Faculty of Agronomy and Forestry. The first Taihoku Imperial University President was professor Shidehara Taira, Ph.D. of literature, with professor Hujita Toyohachias as the first Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Politics and professor Oshima Kintaro as the first Dean of the Faculty of Science and Agriculture.
